My new ombré hair (about ten years late!)

Hello everyone! In case you've been living under a rock, you might have noticed England has been gloriously sunny lately! I've been slapping on the SPF and skirts everyday, making the most of this little heatwave. Now, recently I took out my micro ring extensions (you can see what they looked like in my first ever post) and because of it I've been hating my hair! I needed to do something about it - and I've always loved the way ombre/dip dyed hair looks - so one evening last week I just went for it!

In all honesty - I didn't think it was going to work! My hair has a long history of bleach, black hair dyes, red/pink/every colour under the sun - every thing that's bad you can do - I have done. Before I had my extensions I had fire engine red hair which took 5 dyes to go brown! So I wasn't expecting the ends of my hair to turn out like they did.

I used the L'oreal Preference Wild Ombre hair kit in number 1, for Light Brown to Dark Brown hair. Seeing as I've used a lot of home hair dyes in the past, in all honesty I didn't expect much from this - it tends to be the kits like this that leave your hair unchanged, slightly frazzled, and you 7 quid out of pocket. I even actually bought some creme developer for some powder bleach I had at home in case this didn't work!

I followed all the instructions properly (you shouldn't mess around with bleach!) and was so amazed that I actually saw my hair lightening before my very eyes. I had read a lot of reviews on the Boots website which were really bad and said that the product didn't lift their hair colour at all!

There's nothing I can say more apart from the fact that it was really easy to use, and gave me the perfect result - I really love it. The only downfall is that compared to buying powder bleach and creme developer it's a bit expensive - I paid £6.99 (on offer) whilst I can get a bleach kit for around £5. The brush that came with the kit is also very average - it's good in theory but the product tends to pool in the bottom on the brush and get stuck! I did use it anyway as it helps give you the gradual faded effect. I really recommend this product!

PS - I thought you might like to see some of the hair colours I've had before to show you just how much product is in my hair and this still worked! So here's a bunch of pictures of me for your amusement (yes, it includes embarrassing pics of me at 12!):

Enjoy your sunny weekends!
